MP hoping to gallop to victory for Hospice
Matthew Hancock, MP for West Suffolk will be climbing into the saddle when he takes part in the 350th Newmarket Town Plate, in aid of our Hospice, on Thursday 7 July, 2016.
Matthew, who recently toured the Hospice’s Haverhill Hub, said he decided to raise funds for us at the Town Plate because of the incredible things we do for the people of West Suffolk.
Matthew needs to lose a stone in weight and pass an intense fitness test before he can take to the saddle, but is really looking forward to it.
The oldest horse race in the world, the Town Plate was inaugurated in 1666 by King Charles II, who rode in and won the first race.
Every year since it has been run over the same three and a half mile course in Newmarket.
Matthew has already raised more than £6,500 for the Hospice. You can support his fundraising efforts by visiting his Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Matthew-Hancock6.
