Dying Matters Awareness Week 2026: our events and activities

Where?

St Nicholas Hospice Care, Hardwick Lane, Bury Saint Edmunds, UK

When?

May 4, 2026

How much?

Free to attend

As a Hospice, we believe everyone in our communities should have support, dignity and choice when facing dying, death and grief.

We are keen advocates for talking about all aspects of dying, death and grief, and will once again be supporting Dying Matters Awareness Week, which this year runs from May 4-10.

This year’s theme, ‘Let’s talk about Death and Dying’, focuses on encouraging and enabling conversations around death and dying. Open and timely discussions regarding death and dying are crucial for providing quality end-of-life care.

During the week some of our shops are hosting a relaxed, informal drop‑ins to find out more about St Nicholas Hospice Care, the support we offer locally, and to encourage gentle conversations around death and dying.

Drop-in events

  • St Nicholas Hospice Care’s Barton Road shop, Barton Road, Bury St Edmunds: Tuesday, 5 May, from 10am-3pm.
  • St Nicholas Hospice Care’s Haverhill Hub, Camps Road, Haverhill: Thursday, 7 May, from 10am-3pm.

GraveTalk

In addition, on Wednesday, 6 May, 2-3pm, there will be a GraveTalk session which is open to all at the Hospice. The session is an opportunity for learning from one another in a safe environment where questions can be shared and discussed. You can find out more about the session by clicking here.
