Gardeners ready to show case their blooming gardens in aid of hospice
Don’t miss your chance to enjoy a whole host of beautiful gardens and support St Nicholas Hospice Care as our open garden season looks set to bloom.
With several different events (some virtual), there promises to be something for everyone.
he Hidden Gardens of Bury 2021 will see various gardens, often hidden from view, open their gates on Sunday, 11 July.
The event, which Bedford Estate Agents and Ellison Solicitors sponsor, gives people the chance to discover the secret patios, lawns, borders, vegetable gardens, greenhouses and much more.
There will be around 30 gardens taking part all in the town centre within walking distance of each other.
Tickets are available in advance online (https://stnicholashospice.org.uk/contact-us/hidden-gardens-of-bury-tickets) or from 10.30am on the day from the St Nic’s gazebo on Angel Hill.
Alongside this year’s Hidden Gardens of Bury event, we’ll be running our virtual programme, Celebrate Our Gardens, from 20 June to 11 July.
Sponsored by St Edmundsbury Wealth Management Ltd, Celebrate Our Gardens will feature a virtual events that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home.
There will be talks and recordings from garden designers, sculptors and specialists. One of which, on July 3, will be a live online talk by Caroline Holmes that will detail the history of some of the town’s wonderful homes and gardens.
Over in Thetford, there will be twice the fun as this year the team behind Thetford Open Gardens have organised two dates.
On Sunday, 6 June, a dozen gardens will be opening to showcase various blooming beautiful early roses and summer flowers. Then on Sunday, 27 June, visitors can enjoy the same number of gardens.

On Saturday, 26 June, Conrad and Colette Bentley will be opening their garden in Melford Road, Sudbury.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a long narrow Victorian garden divided into several ‘rooms’, with a large pond attracting amphibians and dragonflies.
