Local hospice boosted after kind £5,000 donation

A generous gesture will help support those facing dying, caring, and grief as St Nicholas Hospice Care receives a £5,000 donation.

Bill Gredley and his charity, the Gredley Charitable Trust decided to donate to the charity after liaising with the hospice’s philanthropy officer, Miranda McCoy.

Mr Gredley, a celebrated racehorse owner and property developer, and long-term friend of the Hospice, received a note from Miranda, which caught his attention as she enclosed a lovely birthday card painted by a world-renowned multimedia artist Jacquie Jones. Mr Gredley subsequently decided to frame the card as it features one of his racehorses.

Miranda said: “I am so grateful to Bill; he is a lovely man and cares about the local community. My thanks to Jacquie Jones for her help too, who is such a good supporter of St Nic’s.

“Kindness such as this means we can keep supporting people at the most difficult times of their lives. Thank you.”

Mr Gredley said he hoped his donation might encourage others to contribute to the good cause.
