Sign up to charity’s cycling challenge quick for discount
Cyclists willing to put their pedal power to good use can race ahead by signing up fast for a charity’s challenge event at a discounted rate.
St Nicholas Hospice Care’s cycling challenge, The Edge, will return on Sunday, 12 July, and the charity has high hopes the occasion will raise thousands for the Hospice, which supports those across the area living with dying, death and grief.
Sponsored by Atkins Thomson, the event, which features four routes (15, 30, 60 or 100-miles) offers beautiful views of the West Suffolk countryside.
Until May 20, an early-bird offer for those wanting to tackle the 30, 60 and 100-mile routes is running, which means cyclists will receive £5 off their sign-up fees. New for this year, a family-friendly 15-mile ride has been added to the line-up.
Lizzie Cross, the hospice’s events fundraiser, said: “The Edge really is a fantastic event and a wonderful way to support the hospice and conquer a challenge at the same time.
“It is great to see how this event has grown and I really hope our fourth ride will be the best one yet.
“I hope as many people as possible will don their helmets in aid of St Nic’s.
“A big thank you to our challenge sponsors Atkins Thomson and to our event partners Maglia Rosso Cycling Centre.”
The routes, which all start and finish at Maglia Rosso Cycling Centre, in Hawstead, are achievable for all riders, but a little bit of training beforehand would be a good idea.
All of the routes are chip-timed for those who want to add a competitive edge to their ride. All those taking part must wear a helmet at all times.
Those taking part in The Edge do not have to raise funds for the hospice, but if riders choose to ask for sponsorship all monies would be gratefully received.
You can sign up for the family ride for £25 (up to four people) and until May 20 for the 30-mile route, the cost is £20, £30 for the 60-mile and £40 for the 100-mile challenges.
