Hazel’s sky-high efforts will support two charities

A daredevil fundraiser is hoping to prove she has a head for heights as she takes a leap of faith in aid of two good causes.

Despite being someone who doesn’t feel comfortable at the top of a step-ladder, Hazel Jackman, will be facing her fears by taking part in a tandem skydive from 13,000ft.
She hopes her sky-high efforts at Beccles Airfield in March will raise funds for two charities, St Nicholas Hospice Care and Theatre Royal BSE.
Hazel was spurred on to sign-up for her fundraising challenge, following her retirement as Principal of Hazelwood Dance Studios, which is continuing to be run by one of the studio’s existing teachers.
Hazel said: “After 28 happy years as Principal I decided the time was right to hand over the reins and I hung up my ballet shoes for the last time at the end of December (2019).
“It was a momentous decision which I wanted to mark with something equally momentous. I have decided to launch myself into retirement in a big way.”
Chairman of Theatre Royal Supporters Group, Hazel has also recently started volunteering at the hospice as a volunteer on its Sylvan Ward.
The money she raises in aid of the hospice will be used to transform a central area on the ward, which overlooks the garden, into a place that can be enjoyed by those staying on the ward and their families.
Hazel said: “As a volunteer on the ward I can see how hard everyone at the hospice works to care for and support patients and their families. I couldn’t believe it when I first heard how much money has to be raised every single day to enable the hospice to continue its work.
“It’s a privilege to be part of a charity who offer so much care and support to people going through the most challenging of times.”
“I am also passionate about the work of Theatre Royal who provide so many wonderful opportunities for all ages of the community.”
