Kenny set to put in the miles for hospice

An intrepid fundraiser is set to pull on his comfiest walking shoes as he races to finish a 50km trek in a bid to raise funds for a local charity.

Kenny Butcher will be tackling the TrekFest ‘The Peaks’ 2019 challenge on August 31, and he hopes to be able to raise as much as possible for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Joined by his mum Irina, Kenny, who works for Bury St Edmunds Skoda as a Parts Advisor and Workshop Controller, hopes to complete the circular route, which starts and finishes in Hope, Derbyshire, in under 12 hours.

Kenny said: “The hospice is such a good worthy cause that helps so many people in the area. The work they do is fantastic and I just wanted to be able to support it.

“I am looking forward to it. The terrain will definitely be varied. There is only about 2km of path 1km at the start and 1km at the end.”

After a knee injury earlier in the year, this will be Kenny’s first major event, and he is hoping to be able to do it in under 12 hours to earn a place in the challenge’s hall of fame.

Vindis Skoda Bury St Edmunds are also one of the businesses signed up to the Hospice’s Accumulator Challenge and are busy battling it out against other businesses to raise funds for the hospice over the summer months.
