Guests raise their teacups to help mark Lottery’s birthday
An abundance of tea and plenty of cake made sure a Hospice Lottery milestone was celebrated in style.
St Nicholas Hospice Care’s lottery, which has been running since 1998, reached its 20th birthday earlier in the year and to make sure the occasion didn’t go unnoticed the charity organised a special event on Saturday (September 22).
The tea party, which due to popular demand had to be moved to Christ Church, Moreton Hall, saw around 115 guests gather to mark the occasion.
The Hospice’s Lottery Manager, Alison Bacon-Snow, said: “The event was a great success and did exactly what it was supposed to do. It gave every one of our loyal supporters an afternoon of treats to say thank you for 20 years of amazing support.
“We had so many happy, smiling faces throughout the afternoon and an array of positive comments too. I would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the occasion.”
Alison is hoping to turn the party into an annual event as a way of saying thank you to members.
Thanks to the generosity of Aunt Clara’s Vintage China Hire, guests were able to sip their tea and enjoy their tasty treats on beautiful crockery loaned out especially for the party and vocal trio The Apple Blossoms also helped to keep everyone entertained.
The weekly draw, which celebrated its 20th birthday in June, has raised around £7.4 million, for the charity.
