Cyclists’ efforts raise thousands for charity

Cyclists used their pedal power to raise more than £3,000 for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Some 72 riders pulled on their helmets and saddled up to ride 60 miles in aid of the Hospice on Sunday (25 June) by taking part in the charity’s 60 mile charity bike ride The Edge.

So far the total raised from the event stands at £3,358, but that figure could go up as sponsorship from riders continues to come in.

Charlie De-Moore, Hospice Events Fundraiser, said: “Thank you to all of the cyclists who took part in this year’s Edge cycle ride. It was a brilliant day, and we are so grateful to everyone who took part.

“A big thank you to our two volunteer support riders Ian and Max, not only did they make sure all of the riders were safe, they also offered encouragement and words of support when needed, and all of the event’s volunteers who gave their time on the day to make sure the event ran without a hitch.”

The event, which was sponsored by Ashtons Legal, followed a carefully selected route set within the Hospice’s catchment area offering beautiful views of the Suffolk countryside.

Charlie said: “Completing a 60 mile cycle ride on a warm June day isn’t an easy challenge, but all of our riders were amazing. Their efforts will help the Hospice to continue to provide end-of-life care and support for those across the community when they need it most. We are also grateful to Ashtons Legal and the rugby club for their support to.”
