Hospice bowled over by club’s donation

Hundreds of pounds raised by carpet bowlers has given a local charity a welcome boost.

The Cockfield Carpet Bowls Club has handed £500 to St Nicholas Hospice Care, its chosen charity for the year.

The funds were raised at the annual Cockfield Invitation Fours Tournament, which was played in the village in February.

George Chilvers, St Nicholas Hospice Care Community Fundraiser, said: “A massive thank you to everyone who took part and for the wonderful continued support we receive from the Cockfield Carpet Bowls.

“We are really grateful to the club for their loyal support of the hospice, without their help we would not be able to continue supporting patients facing long-term and life-shortening illnesses, and their families.”

The club, which meets at Cockfield Village Hall every Monday evening, plays in the Bury and Suffolk leagues.
