Update: Our expanded Barton Road shop opens and our Donation Centre settled in new home

Customers can shop to their hearts content as local hospice celebrates recently extending one of its stores.

St Nicholas Hospice Care’s recently enhanced Barton Road shop is now fully open and shoppers are being encouraged to pop in and browse through the high-quality items on sale.

Karen Jones, the hospice’s retail support manager, said: “We are also excited that we have been able to take advantage of the opportunity to extend our existing Barton Road store into the unoccupied site next door on the Bartons Retail Park.

“With an extended shop space, we can offer more high-quality pre-loved goods and furniture for sale, and we are very pleased with how everything has come together at the shop. Whether you’ve shopped with us for years, or are popping in for the first time, we have so many items for you to look through.

“With more space, we are also on the lookout for more volunteers to support us, so if you’re interested in giving your time to us, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.”

The newly extended shop space, which officially opened on Monday, 16 September, houses all furniture and home items, and there is also a new card and gift shop.

In the existing shop space, clothing and accessories have expanded taking over the whole of the first floor, and the ground floor has become a clearance shop where great value items can be found.

All funds raised by the shop, which is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sundays from 10am to 4pm, support the work that the hospice does across the communities of West Suffolk and Thetford caring for those facing dying, death and grief.

Our new Donation Centre on the Bartons Retail Park is also now open and accepting donated items following its move from Chapel Pond Hill.

People can now drop off donations Monday-Friday from 8.30am-12.30pm. Booking is not required, but items can only be taken during the hours stated.

If you are getting new furniture, we would be delighted if you choose to donate your pre-loved sofas, tables and chairs, wardrobes, etc., to the Hospice.

If you are having a spring clean and clearing out your wardrobe, please bring any unwanted clothes, bric-a-brac and small items of furniture directly to us.

For larger items, we are also now able to offer a furniture collection service from customers’ houses.

We offer collections from Bury St Edmunds and surrounding areas within our catchment of West Suffolk and Thetford. To arrange a collection please call the Donation Centre on 01284 747622 or email deliveriesandcollections@stnh.org.uk.

The new address for our Donation Centre is St Nicholas Hospice Care Donation Centre, Unit 9, Bartons Retail Park, Barton Road, Bury St Edmunds, IP32 7BE.
