Volunteers’ Week 2022: Janet

I’m Janet, and I am a volunteer on the Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy Team.

My background has always been in volunteering for the Chaplaincy, firstly in Gloucester Royal Hospital and more recently at Dougie Mac Hospice in Stoke on Trent.

Part of my role at St Nic’s sees me support those in the Haverhill community. I visit the Hospice’s Haverhill Hub every Monday and have a SPACE table in the hub’s Haven Garden Café. This is a safe space where anyone is welcome to come, sit and reflect. My role is to listen, and if needed, I can guide and signpost people to further support.

I enjoy sitting and listening to people and occasionally helping them to the next step and choose the Hospice because of all the amazing work they do for patients and families.

Janet is at the Haverhill Hub in the café on Mondays, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
