Dementia support group at the Haverhill Hub
The Hospice’s Haverhill Hub has taken over the running of the Alzheimer’s Society, Suffolk’s dementia support group.
Abi Morris, the Haverhill Hub’s interim manager, said: “We hope that by taking over the running of this group we will be able to continue to reduce the isolation of people with dementia, their families and carers.
“The sessions will be informal and we hope to create a friendly place where people can come for practical and emotional support.”
The support sessions, which will be run by the Hospice’s staff and volunteers, will also feature music, activities and games, as well as advice and peer support. Staff and volunteers will not be able to give personal care during the sessions.
Who can attend?
The sessions will offer a friendly environment where people can drop in for tea or coffee, and are designed to offer support to those with dementia, their carers and those who have been bereaved as a result of the disease.
When does it run?
The sessions are held every first and third Thursday of the month, from 2pm to 4pm at the Haverhill Hub.
