Hospice’s cycle challenge The Edge returns for 2021
Cyclists willing to put their pedal power to good use can race ahead by signing up fast for our cycling challenge event at a discounted rate.
The Edge, will return on Sunday, 11 July, and we hope cyclists will pull on their helmets and help raise much-needed funds for the Hospice, which supports those across the area facing dying, death and grief.
Sponsored by Atkins Dellow, the event, which features four routes (15, 30, 60 or 100-miles), offers beautiful views of the West Suffolk countryside. The 15-mile family-friendly ride will be a new addition to the line-up this year.
Until 31 May, an early-bird offer for those wanting to take on the challenge means cyclists will receive £5 off their sign-up fees.
Events fundraiser Charlie De-Moore said: “Over the years, the Edge has grown into such a great fundraising event for the hospice, and after a break last year due to the pandemic, we are so pleased to be planning for 2021’s event.
“Whether you are a keen cyclist or just someone wanting to try something different, The Edge is an excellent challenge for all abilities, and I am especially pleased that we can offer a route for families this year.
“A big thank you to our challenge sponsors, Atkins Dellow and our event partners Maglia Rosso Cycling Centre.
“I’m looking forward to seeing riders at the start line, so please join us.”
All routes start and finish at Maglia Rosso Cycling Centre, in Hawstead, and all those taking part must wear a helmet at all times.
Those taking part in The Edge do not have to raise funds, but if riders choose to ask for sponsorship, all monies would be gratefully received.
Like most fundraisers for the Hospice 2020’s challenge had to be cancelled, which means the funds raised from this event and community support are more critical than ever as the charity looks to get back on its feet in 2021.
You can sign up for the family ride for £25 (up to five people), and until 31 May for individuals wanting to take on the 15-mile route, it is £10, for the 30-mile route, the cost is £20, £30 for the 60-mile and £40 for the 100-mile challenges.
