Fundraisers needed to make sure a charity skydive day soars

A local hospice is on the lookout for fundraisers willing to take a leap of faith to make sure their charity skydive day soars.

For those willing to plunge 10,000ft all in the name of a good cause St Nicholas Hospice Care will be holding its skydive day at Beccles Airfield on Sunday, 18 July, 2021. The event is being planned bearing in mind all government advice and guidelines.

The tandem skydive will see supporters fall 1,000 feet every eight seconds to make a difference to those across West Suffolk, and Thetford living with dying, death and grief.

Charlie De-Moore, the hospice’s events fundraiser, said: “By taking part in the St Nicholas Hospice Care’s Skydive Day, you will be doing something really incredible, by raising much-needed funds for the hospice and experiencing what free-falling is like at 10,000ft.

“If you are hesitant about raising the minimum sponsorship, we can help you with some ideas.”

Last year the day, which was able to take place following government advice and guidelines, resulted in around £8,200 for the charity, saw 10 daring supporters reach for the skies.

To take part fundraisers need to pay a £50 non-refundable registration fee and pledge to raise at least £350 sponsorship.

As well as support from the hospice’s fundraising team to reach their sponsorship target, those taking a leap will also receive a T-shirt.
