Step Back In Time for St Nicholas Hospice Care: Bury’s Streets and Streetlife in late Stuart and Georgian times.

In this new lecture specifically for St Nicholas Hospice Care, Pat Murrell explores life on, above, and below Bury’s central thoroughfares.

The work of the town’s mapmakers, (notably the Warren family) and the Paving Commission established in 1811, forms the backdrop to grand parades, riots, public executions, boy racers, increased traffic, murder, prostitution – and a shooting.

Tickets cost £10 per person (previous events have sold out, advance booking is essential).

Refreshments of cakes and biscuits made to recipes of the period are included in your ticket price.

Tickets are available from the Hospice Shop in St John’s Street or online by following the link below.

The next event, taking place on 16 December will be The Victorian Christmas. More details will be available shortly.

Thank you to Pat Murrell for holding this series of events in aid of the Hospice.
