A celebration of life for John Birch, in aid of the Hospice.

Birchfest was born when John and his friend Johnny were watching Glastonbury in John’s room at the Hospice. John had just turned 49 and he told Johnny he wanted to take him to Glastonbury 2016 to celebrate his 50th birthday. Sadly John died a few days later.

John and Johnny couldn’t go to Glastonbury for John’s 50th so Johnny decided to bring Glastonbury to Suffolk, well, at least a taste of the festival feel. In July 2016, they celebrated John’s 50th at Risby near Bury St Edmunds. In November 2017, they put on Music in the Barn at Haughley.

This year, we are so grateful to Johnny and the rest of his team for putting on Birchfest 19, an indoor family festival featuring two stages of live music.

The event will take place on 28 September at Stowmarket High School, with acts including Josh Kemp, Ellen Fairey, Adam ThomasSolid StateMaisie Mae, Let Fish Swim and more.

Thank you to sponsors A.C. Webb Electrical Contractors, M J Nunn Surfacing and Darren Hempstead Building Contracts.
